Shipping Policy
Courier Options:
Please view all our shipping options prior to making your choice. If you wish to use your own courier, please read up on the process below in the Delivery Policy section.
- Delivers to any valid South African address excluding: P.O. boxes.
- Takes 2-5 business days to make delivery. Remote areas take longer.
- Delivers parcel directly to your doorstep at home or work.
- Parcels can be insured on request.
We offer these price options:
- 15kg Max Box for R170
- 25kg Max Box for R230
This is an express courier service that picks up your parcel from our doorstep and delivers it to yours. These types of parcels are prioritized by the courier and will generally arrive fast. If you want your parcel to be insured, please make a note in your order notes and wait for us to send you an updated order invoice. We highly recommend taking up insurance for high-value orders against theft, hijacks, breakage and leakages that may occur during transit. African Thoro is not liable for any loss, breakage, leakage and any damage that may occur during transit.
SURCHARGES
HIGH-RISK ZONES: These are areas that are considered unsafe for couriers to collect from/deliver to thus a surcharge (over and above the shipping cost) is applicable. An invoice will be sent prior to dispatch should you reside in a “high-risk” considered area. Please click here to check if your area has any applicable surcharges. Simply type the name of your area, e.g. Soweto or the word “surcharge” in the search box.
REMOTE/OUTLYING AREAS/MINES, etc.: These are areas that fall outside of the main delivery centers’ such as mines, remote hospitals, etc. Please click here to view if your area has a surcharge for being remote. Simply type the name of your area, e.g. Consort Gold Mine or the word “surcharge” in the search box.
HOT SPOT ZONES [POLICE STATION DELIVERY]: Certain areas are deemed hotspots/red-zones/extremely high risk due to the high rate of theft and hijackings. In such areas, delivery will be made to the nearest police station as opposed to your door step.
You will receive a phone call from the courier on the day of delivery to arrange a police station pick up. Unfortunately, we are unaware of this ahead of time and thus have no control over this. We have contacted our branch manager to assist us in getting a list of such areas so that when you order and we notice that you are in such an area, we can notify you and perhaps try to see if we can make use of another courier option such as PAXI. We apologize ahead of time for the inconvenience caused by this.

We offer these price options:
- 5kg Max Sleeve for R60 [Please note that this is a courier bag. Your order must fit in smoothly or else we will have to upgrade your courier option].
- 10kg Max Box for R100
By default, we drop the parcels off at our Courier Guy Kiosk and they deliver it to your doorstep. If you prefer collecting your parcel at a PUDO locker or your designated Courier Guy kiosk, please ensure that you write it in your order notes and tell us the name of the locker, e.g., Menlyn Park Shopping Center Locker. You can find your nearest locker here.
Alternatively, we’ll use your nearest locker based on your billing address. This will only happen if you indicate that you want delivery to a locker in your order notes but fail to indicate which one.
- Delivers to any Pep, Shoe City and Tekkie Town store of your choice.
- You may collect whenever you like within the stipulated time.
We offer these price options:
5kg Max Sleeve [small courier bag]:
- 7-9 business days delivery period costs R60
- 3-5 business days delivery period costs R100
10kg Max Sleeve [large courier bag]:
- 7-9 business days delivery period costs R100
- 3-5 business days delivery period costs R130
When checking out your order, write the specific name or store code of your selected PAXI point, e.g., PEP Makhado Crossing or P8095. Click here to find your nearest PAXI point. Please search online to see how the bags look to determine whether your order may fit in or not.
INSURANCE: PAXI does offer insurance which you can read up on here. You have two options: R10 for up to R2500 cover and R20 for up to R5000 cover. If you want the insurance, please state which option you want in your order notes so that we can update your order accordingly.
Delivery Policy
You accept that in order for us to prove delivery of an order, we do not have to prove that you personally received the goods, but rather that any person at the delivery address signed for the delivery.
When you click to make a purchase with us legal obligations arise and your right to refund of monies charged to your credit card or paid in any other way agreed by us, are limited by our Terms of Service. You must not make any purchase through this website, WhatsApp, Email and/or any other social media platforms unless you understand and agree with all our terms and conditions. Once payment is made for the purchase, it is deemed that you have read and understood the terms and conditions for such purchase.
Please ensure the correct shipping address is provided from the outset as title and risk will pass to you once the order has left our premises. Once your order has been dispatched and a tracking number has been provided, it is solely your responsibility to track it. However, if you need our assistance to trace a parcel that is no longer moving or untraceable, please contact us at info@africanthoro.co.za
Overall delivery time is a processing time + freight (courier) delivery time. You can view our processing times in our FAQ. You can view the courier delivery times above [shipping policy]. Please note that larger orders will have a longer processing time and we will notify you if the processing time will exceed our general processing window. In the event of a package being undeliverable due to failure to collect parcel from PAXI or PUDO within the stipulated time period or being unavailable at provided address for The Courier Guy or PUDO delivery. Every attempt possible will be made to contact you to make arrangements for collection or a second delivery attempt. Should your order be returned to us or returned to our PAXI/PUDO point due to unsuccessful delivery and/or collection, re-shipment will be at your cost as well as a 15% handling fee as we would have to ensure the parcel is fit for another trip.
Should you wish to independently arrange for your own courier service to collect your parcel from us, you are more than welcome to do so. Our address is: 28 Celliers Street, Louis Trichardt, Limpopo, 0920. A contact person that can be listed is Gundo Maano – 0812414708. Simply select the “Own Courier Collection” option presented within the courier options during checkout. In your order notes, please list the courier company name and any other information you may require that is not listed here.
Please wait for confirmation from us that your order is ready for collection prior to booking. We will provide you with parcel dimensions and weight. Please send us the waybill for the parcel as soon as you book it. Collection must occur between 08h00 and 17h00, 08h00 to 14h00 on Fridays strictly. We are closed on weekends.
Very Important: for security/logistical reasons we are unable to hand-off your parcel to independent couriers without first having a copy of the waybill. The courier also has to state your order number when collecting to avoid mistakes such as handing over the wrong parcel to your courier.
Unforeseen circumstances such as adverse weather, load shedding, hijacking, strikes, pandemics or supplier issues could prolong the delivery time. It’s rare, but it can happen. Late delivery is not grounds for refund or cancellation of already shipped orders but if you are in any way concerned about the current location of your parcel and ETA of delivery, please contact us with your order details so that we can follow up for you. We’re here to help.
There are no deliveries on weekends or public holidays unless by special request which will have a surcharge payable. In your order notes, please write that you want a special service delivery [weekend, early bird or public holiday]. We will update your order accordingly with the surcharge applied and send you a YOCO link to pay the excess.
