There are so many ways of using our shea butters apart from the basic application instructions included in the directions segment on your butters label. Keep reading to know a few methods we picked out to share with you. Find more methods with recipes in our DIY&MORE section.

Shea Butter For Hair:

Simply apply it onto your scalp and hair after applying oil or liquid in the LOC and LCO methods respectively. You can add it to your conditioner for an extra kick.

Melt your Shea butter in a double broiler over boiling water (You can use a glass jug or bowl. Put your desired amount of butter in the bowl or jug and put this bowl or jug in boiling hot water. Make sure no water gets inside the butter).

Once it has melted, allow it to cool down until it is a temperature you can touch without burning. Remember, the scalp is more sensitive compared to your hands so make sure its not too hot.

Spread the butter onto your fingertips and apply directly onto your scalp in small amounts. Massage the melted butter into your scalp in gentle circular motions. Do not scratch it in!!

Add a few drops of tea tree oil and peppermint oil for a cooling sensation and soothing effect.

Melt it like I described under “Soothe an inflamed and irritated scalp” and apply lightly onto your scalp and hair before leaving the house for the beach or a long day in the sun. Shea butter is believed to have a small yet significant amount of SPF that can just protect your hair from UV rays of the sun.

If you hair feels dry and might be in need of some love and attention, you can use your required amount of butter every 2-3 days. Make sure you’re not using too much so as to avoid suffocating your hair.

Shea butter is easily absorbed your hair and also coats the hair shaft, giving it that extra protection it needs from external factors, including heat. But, do not rely on it alone for protection against heat.

Melt it and mix it with avocado oil or any other oil with a high smoke point. You can apply this mix before blow drying or making your hair straight with a straightener.

Kindly note: If your hair is damaged and is not what you would comfortably and confidently refer to as healthy, rather use a chemical heat protectant to be sure that your hair is 100% safe. Heat protectants will not prevent your hair from totally burning and falling so use heat cautiously.

You can use this butter from root to end either as a moisturizer, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, etc. Melt, add anything you would like to add and apply.

You can use this butter from root to end, I suggest giving it a shot and seeing if it works for you. If you end up with unbearable product build up, avoid the roots too much and focus more on the ends. Only apply small amounts of shea butter to your scalp here and there, when needed.

Shea Butter For Skin:

We have sample sized products. You can purchase one to use as lip balm and your lips will be better than new! Get rid of cracked lips with any of the two butters.

Consistency is the key to all your goals! Apply shea butter twice daily to your face and body, massaging it in to get rid of unwanted wrinkles. Add your desired carrier oils to make the butter easier to apply and to add extra benefits while at it.

For cracked heels, apply the butter then wear socks when you can to make sure that you don’t wipe away the butter or get unwanted dirt attracted to your ankles. For the elbows, massage it in and dress as usual. Make sure it is thoroughly massaged in. Use twice daily or as needed.

Consistency!! Massage it onto your face and body twice daily for best results.

Can I overemphasize consistency? I know you’re wondering if its a good idea to but something so thick and oily on skin that has so much oil, it has/had acne. Worry not, this is very good oil for you. In fact, this will help you to fight off acne and the scars it left behind. Use twice daily. For best results, pair any of our shea butters with African Black Soap.
